The TPC held a General Council meeting on September 13h, in Beaverton, Oregon. On the OLTP front, the TPC-E Maintenance Subcommittee made editorial and clarifications to the TPC-E benchmark, resulting in Version 1.3.0, while the TPC-C Maintenance Subcommittee began work on reconciling the list of TAB interpretations. With respect to decision support, the TPC-H subcommittee is working on a bug fix that was found in dbgen that affects scale factors larger than 10TB. The TPC-DS subcommittee has completed addressing the comments on the TPC-DS benchmark and has issued a new version of the specification.

The TPC-C Maintenance Subcommittee started work on reconciling the list of TAB interpretations currently classified as “in force” with the wording in the current revision of the TPC-C Specification.  The subcommittee will recommend wording additions and/or modifications to bring the specification in line with the TAB interpretations.  These wording changes will be included in a future revision of the TPC-C Specification.

The TPC-H subcommittee did not convene at this meeting. The TPC-H subcommittee will continue to monitor the benchmarks, along with any TAB interpretations and rulings, for discussion and possible inclusion in future versions of the specifications.  The subcommittee is exploring options to fix the bug reported in dbgen that affect scale factors larger than 10TB.

The TPC-App subcommittee did not convene at this meeting. The TPC-App subcommittee will continue to monitor the benchmarks, along with any TAB interpretations and rulings, for discussion and possible inclusion in future versions of the specifications.

TPC-E now has some published results.

The TPC-E Maintenance Subcommittee made editorial and clarification changes to the specification, and developed bug fixes for EGen. Most of the specification changes were clarifications that came in from the auditors as a result of their audit work on TPC-E results. The subcommittee did make a change to the Trade-Result transaction to return the Load Unit of the trade. This change makes it easier for sponsors to prove to the auditors that all Load Units were trading evenly. The definition of Dispatch Time was also changed to make it easier for sponsors to calculate and prove to the auditors that Dispatch Time did not exceed 1 second. The subcommittee also changed and improved the definition of the Redundancy Levels.

All 135 comments of the comment database for TPC-DS have been addressed.  102 comments were accepted, 14 comments were rejected, 17 comments required no action and 2 comments were identified as duplicates.  The subcommittee further reviewed the specification and analyzed the workload.   A new specification, Version 56, will be posted on the TPC-DS website.  Member companies have committed to running  benchmarks at 1GB and 100GB

The Pricing Maintenance Subcommittee is working to incorporate specification language from TAB interpretations related to product substitutions. This work is targeted for a future specification revision, to be combined with other minor revisions to the specification.
