TPC-Pricing

The current TPC-Pricing specification can be found on the TPC Documentation Webpage.

The TPC Pricing Subcommittee was chartered to recommend revisions to the existing pricing methodology so that prices used in published TPC results are verifiable. In the course of this activity, a decision was made to develop a single pricing specification that is consistent for all TPC benchmarks.

Goals Addressed by the Pricing Specification

The TPC revised its existing pricing methodology so that prices used in published TPC results are verifiable. In the course of this activity, a single pricing specification was developed to be consistent across all TPC benchmarks.

Comparability With Existing Results
  • No significant change in what is priced.
  • The adoption of the pricing specification will allow all current results to be comparable with results that use the pricing specification.

Existing Benchmark Specification Updates Required
  • Each benchmark specification must be updated to recognize the Pricing Specification.
  • In the rare case where there may appear to be a conflict between the Price Specification and a Benchmark Specification, the language in the Price Specification takes precedence.

Pricing Specification Version 2.0
  • The current version (V2.0) of the Pricing Specification was accepted in 2016. The specification has been edited and updated to account for SSD devices.
  • All results published under prior pricing rules are comparable with those published under the new version.
  • Please see the link on top of this page for a current version of the specification.

Hardware, Software and Maintenance Pricing

Did you know that there are computer hardware, software and maintenance prices on the TPC web site? These pricing figures appear both in the Executive Summary and in the Full Disclosure Report of each individual result (1).These reports list vendor part numbers, prices, and discounts available to the general public. These prices may be used as the basis of your negotiations for similar configurations with the hardware or software supplier during the purchasing process.

If you find that the prices shown in the reports are not available for similar configurations from the named supplier, please contact the TPC at pricing@tpc.org.

(1) To find an Executive Summary or a Full Disclosure Report, click inside the System column of the desired result in the summary table. This will lead you to a Result Highlight page where you will find links to the Executive Summary and Full Disclosure Report at the bottom.
