The TPC revised its existing pricing methodology so that prices used in published TPC results are verifiable. In the course of this activity, a single pricing specification was developed to be consistent across all TPC benchmark.

• Clause 7.x – similar in scope to current primary pricing clause in the benchmark specifications
• Clauses 0.1, 0.2, 8.x, 9.x – similar in scope to the portions of those clauses that speak to price or product availability
• Clause 0.3 – new clause for definitions of terms
• Appendix – price-related reference material
• Clauses 1-6 not included to maintain consistent clause numbering with existing specifications

• No significant change in what is priced.
• The adoption of the pricing specification will allow all current results to be comparable with results that use the pricing specification.

• Each benchmark specification must be updated to recognize the Pricing Specification.
• In the rare case where there may appear to be a conflict between the Price Specification and a Benchmark Specification, the language in the Price Specification takes precedence.

• A new version (V1.3) of the Pricing Specification was accepted in the December 2007 meeting that has more detailed rules for component substitution in a priced configuration and includes an additional appendix for steps to follow when trying to verify a price.
• Version 1.3.0 of the specification is the current effective version as of February 4, 2008. All results published under prior pricing rules are comparable with those published under the new version.
